Jonathan Schaefer

Technical Director

Edina Soccer Association couldn't exist without the help of our hundreds of volunteer coaches. Here is where you will find ESA-created training materials and practice plans plus many other resources from other sources. We hope you will find them useful.

We encourage ESA coaches to participate in our Coach Education & On Field Training opportunities offered 2-3 times a year.

Concussion Prevention

In an effort to increase concussion awareness and prevent concussion-related injuries, the state of Minnesota has recently passed a law that will require all coaches and officials of youth sports to receive initial online concussion prevention training and online training at least once every three calendar years thereafter. The required online training takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. For more information please visit our Concussion Prevention page.

Edina Soccer Association requires that all volunteer coaches, instructors, supervisors and referees complete the required online concussion prevention training module. Edina Soccer Association will not permit anyone who has not completed this training to coach an ESA team.
